METALLICA played a full rehearsal show with their new stage set for about 300 radio show winners and friends at the Cow Palace in San Francisco Friday night (Feb. 27). According to Bret of San Jose, "Their new stage is in the middle of the venue, and the center of it rotates around continually, so it faces all directions eventually. The stage is huge, and has a massive lighting system above it, which includes screens, lasers, huge pyro, etc." A further report at Inter Sandman states, "[METALLICA frontman] James Hetfield, who was on 98.9 The Rock's [KQRC] morning show Johnny Dare and Murphy, said the show will consist of lasers, pyro, crowd projectors… and the stage is only THREE FEET TALL!… they wanted to be on the floor but whatever security reasons and maybe viewing restrictions were the only reason."
