Kirk Hammett mit TOOL auf der Bühne | 20.08.06

Laut blabbermouth.net kam Kirk Hammett während des Tool Konzerts am 18.8. auf die Bühne. Augenzeugen berichten, dass Kirk von Frontmann Keenan wie folgt angekündigt wurde: "We have a special guest tonight. He's not [unintelligible], and he's not Elvis. Well, maybe he's their bastard son, Mr. Kirk Hammett." Kirk spielte u.a. das Solo im Song "Sober", welches nach Publikumsberichten sehr schlampig ausfiel. Am Ende der Show kam Kirk noch ein mal raus, um die "wir sind unwürdig"-Geste vor den Tool-Musikern zu machen.

Hier nochn Bericht von einem User ausm Metclub Forum der dabei war:

What a pleasant fuckin' surprise. Maynard made an announcement " We have a very special guest tonight, Kirk from Metallica" and I fuckin lost it!!!!!

Kirk went into this bad ass solo for about 20-30 seconds before the bass riffs to...wait for it....Motherfuckin' SOBER started. Yes I am in shock too, Kirk jammed onstage with Tool on the song Sober. All I can say is HOLY SHIT. It was the best live version of Sober EVER. Kirk was riffing on some awesome soloage. Man, I am still numb from that.

Not sure if it was Jeff or not, but someone snapped a couple of Professional pictures while Kirk was onstage. I expect to see those surface somewhere. I was ten rows deep, directly in front of Kirk. And as most of you Tool fans know, its not that well lit during their set, so I couldn't make out exactly who took the shots. I expect an offical report on this shortly, jsut wanted to let you guys know first-hand.

And to top it off and the end of the show when Tool was doing their bows, Kirk came back onstage and did the whole Wayne's World "We're not Worthy" shtick. Purely fuckin priceless. Its a shame I didn't bring any recording gear or cameras. I managed to get some shitty cell phone pics and vid footage. Thats its. If its worth posting I might upload it, but I haven't checked it out yet. But yeah, pro shoits were takin so you guys should see it ans a report soon!

On another note, the Tool show was badass. One more show tomorrow night. Praying another Kirk or other band member(s) sighting occurss.

Hell yeah motherfuckers!!! Kirk shreds with TOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ist mir schon klar :rolleyes:

Aber ich wollte wissen was er gerade da zu suchen hatte. Ist er vllt nen großer Tool-Fan oder sowas? Er geht sonst auch nicht jede Woche bei irgendeiner x-beliebigen Band auf die Bühne.

Ich denke dass er einfach grade wieder auf Hawaii surfen war und die Gelegenheit genutzt hat , James ist ja auch bei Rock am Ring überraschend mit Alice in Chains aufgetreten.

das ist wieder so typisch. da treffen 2 total fanatische fan-gruppen aufeinander. der metallica-fan sagt, dass das solo großartig war und der song nie besser klang, während der tool-fanatiker im original etwas sagte wie "kirk butchered the song".
